Salad Recipes For Kids


Salads should be a part of every meal as they are the best source of fibre content. Here are few salad recipes easy to prepare and tasty to eat. They can be prepared very quickly.Salad Recipes For Kids

Spinach And Mushroom Salad


30 leaves of spinach (stem removed and shredded into thin strips)
4 large salad or cabbage leaves (torn into 1 inch pieces with the hands)
6 large fresh mushrooms

Salad Dressing

2 tablespoon lemon juice
2 flakes garlic (chopped or crushed as you like)
1 teaspoon mustard powder
2 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste


1 large tomato cut into wedges


Wash the salad leaves and tear roughly into 1 inch pieces. Put in chilled water for 15 minutes. Wash spinach leaves. Discard the stems and shred the leaves very finely into thin strips. Put them into chilled water for 15 minutes.
Wash mushrooms very well. Boil 2-3 cups of water with half teaspoon sugar and one-fourth teaspoon salt.

Add washed mushrooms to the boiling water. Remove from fire after ½ minute. Strain. Put the mushrooms in cold water for 5 minutes to get refreshed. Strain. Cut the mushrooms with a sharp knife into very thin ‘T’ shaped slices. In a small bowl mix together all the ingredients of the dressing.

Keep the mushrooms, salad or cabbage leaves in a bowl. An hour before serving, add the dressing. Toss lightly. Chill for 1 hour before serving.
Decorate with tomato wedges. Serve it cool.

Macaroni And Peanut Salad


1 and half cups (100gm) small macaroni
3-4 tablespoons peanuts with red skin
½ teaspoon olive oil
1 capsicum (cut into ¼ inches squares)
1 tablespoon salad oil or another refined cooking oil
1 tablespoon lime juice
2 tablespoon white vinegar
2-3 flakes crushed garlic
2 tablespoon chopped onion
½ teaspoon each salt
½ teaspoon sugar
½ teaspoon mustard powder
½-1 teaspoon red chilli powder
1 tablespoon dried oregano (or1/2 teaspoon ajwain)
1 bay leaf (broken into pieces)


1 unpeeled cucumber (cut into neat round slices)


Mix all the ingredients of Italian dressing in the mixer and blend them patiently (3-4 minutes) till it becomes thick and creamy. Chill it for 2-4 hours before using. Boil 6-7 cups of water and add 2 teaspoon salt and 1 tablespoon oil to it. Add macaroni and cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring the water occasionally till macaroni becomes soft and tender.

Remove from fire and leave macaroni in hot water for about 2-3 minutes, till it swells properly. Strain it in colander. Put the macaroni in cold water for 1-2 minutes and strain again draining all the water. Sauté the peanuts in ½ teaspoon oil, stirring continuously, on low flame for a few minutes.

Mix capsicum, macaroni and peanuts together in a large bowl. Pour the dressing over the mixture in the bowl and mix lightly. Do not mash the macaronis. To garnish the salad, make a border of unpeeled cucumber slices around the salad. Serve it cool. Since both the salads have good amount of nutrition you and your kids would love to eat it.
